poogle

A quick 15 min study..I have one of these on my desk at work. It's a poogle figure from Monster Hunter, and the sheep costumed one happens to be my favorite. Hee.

Teapot LOL

Trying to get a better handle on metal objects..I think I'll try to do this one more time.

Hiking and painting....

Went to Villa Montalvo's hiking trail this weekend with a few friends..who are nice enough to tolerate waiting for me while I set up camp and painting for some odd hours while they go about exploring the area.
So here's one of the two semi-ehhh paintings I managed to wrangle there. As for the other one, it's probably stuck up a tree somewhere, or floating down a creek, or maybe it ended up in some nice lady's living room. Who knows!
I do have some eyewitness account who saw me put it in my bag..where it magically disappeared later in the day. O well! first time for everything, I guess.

Cake LOL

I bought this cake based on how it looked, so here's hoping that it will taste as good now that the study's done.
But anyway. I'm noticing that painting yellow hues is becoming a huge weak spot for me lately. They never turn out quite matching the real object, and either gets too muddy or too orange/red/green.
Mayhaps it's time to start making a yellow-only still life setup.
And yes, I do know that the cast shadow quality is rather..lacking, but o well! time to sleep.

If life was a video game, the message I'd be getting out of these two would be "Thank you for playing. Hit restart to try again."
Nahahahha.
Joke aside, it does suck that the one time I got up to paint outside is the weekend of overcast and rain -___-

Lunch break time! I'm test-driving this brush I accidentally found in my collection..it's totally nice to block stuff in with, especially for studies.

Gyula Benczur study

...exactly what it says. I wish I had more time with these studies sometimes, since rushing it really won't make you learn anything..
But I'll take what I can get, hahahah.....a bit of practice every now and then is better than nothing.

Speaking of which, hope everyone had a great time at Wondercon this year! got to meet a lot of fantastic artists as usual, and looking at some of the stuff people are working on is inspiring as well. I'm trying to go to comic con for the first time, so hopefully I'll see the peeps there too.
